Tribeton

A Galway Experience

In a boldly-designed monumental space that has been closed from public view for several years, Tribeton has created urbane yet comfortable
surroundings that pay homage to Galway’s industrial heritage and provide a backdrop for casual and relaxed dining & drinking from open ‘til close.

One of Galway’s best art-deco buildings is the backdrop for our work and your play. A vast open kitchen; one of the longest bars in Galway;
a restaurant bounded by steel and comfortable lounges for leisurely days all contribute to something that’s just a little different and ever so bold.

At Tribeton we try to do things right.

Our team want to live up to our splendid surroundings and offer guests the best service possible.
Our team want to ensure the food we serve is as good as possible. Not just because it’s the right
thing to do or it’s a service industry cliché, but because it’s the essence of why we are here and
why we created Galway’s newest and most beautiful bar & restaurant.

We are a community destination where the best and brightest elements of Galway can be experienced.

There’s nothing wrong with a little style & a lot of panache!

Why TRIBETON?

Galway's Stylish & Contemporary Atelier

Quite simply why not!

In looking at creating a unique and strong brand that encompasses what we are about, we exhausted many options. We felt strongly that it should be of and embody Galway yet not be bogged down in traditional stereotypes. It is something new and fresh for a youthful and dynamic city, a contemporary take on the traditional moniker of City of the Tribes or Tribe Town. It’s something we envision becoming bigger than its environs, watch this space!

We are a community destination where the best and brightest elements of Galway can be experienced.

Food & Drink

Proper & Simple

At Tribeton we focus on proper, simple and no nonsense food.

Locals and visitors can enjoy coffee with freshly baked sweet treats in the morning, swiftly served lunch each day or come evening time a choice of light bites at the bar or relaxed dining at hand crafted tables. Areas may be reserved for office parties and celebrations with a wide range of cocktails, craft beers and wines available.

Wholesome ingredients cooked in our magnificent open kitchen result in an innovative mix of dishes and comforting favourites.

Great steaks aged for 28 days to ensure tenderness and flavour; the bounty of the Wild Atlantic on our shores means we can offer fresh fish daily and the best shellfish in the world.

Our magnificent marble & pewter topped bars serve up a wide selection of fine wines, cocktails & beers from Ireland and further afield.

Design

Tasteful Restoration

Every aspect of Tribeton has been carefully created over the past two years. There are many stories to tell and memories yet to be made but in the beginning… there was a bar…

The bar in Tribeton runs almost the length of the venue and features a beautiful re-claimed oak base with Italian marble counter top on the main bar and a shining Belfast pewter top on the cocktail bar. Pewter was once only for the wealthy in Ireland and was found on the tables of castle halls. Today we have combined over 800 years of Irish Pewter with modern day metalwork to create a stunning focal point for our guests.

Above the cocktail bar hangs a specially commissioned bronze two tiered cartwheel chandelier which was modelled on an original  smaller lantern sourced in Cornwall in over 20 years ago and now hangs in Kirwan’s lane. The medieval style is a celebration of the history of Galway and a love of ancient crafts honed from generation to generation.

Opposite the bar, the restaurant tables and showcase dividers were created by the skill of local Galway craftsmen. They hand-crafted the table tops from beautiful, reclaimed hand hewn oak beams. The wood was salvaged from old Amish barns in the rural countryside of Pennsylvania. A hundred and fifty years of weather has produced a character that show off its history and unique character. Its colour ranges from light amber to a nut brown with a distinctive variety of grain patterns. It is easy to imagine the magnificent trees that once grew and were used to create Amish homesteads.

Throughout Tribeton, the use of vintage lighting, metal casings and antique mirrors allow natural light to be amplified throughout the day while dusk brings the venue alive with warm evening tones, rhythmic music and electric atmosphere.

The ground floor entrance at 1-3 Merchant’s road now features a vibrant hand-painted floor mural and guests are guided to the wide and impressive Art Deco stairway that leads to Tribeton Café, Bar & Restaurant above. There is also a charming fireplace which is now a quirky feature of the large industrial open kitchen – the largest of its kind in Galway and visually arresting.

We have retained all of Tribeton’s original detailing, such as the elongated sash windows, double-leaf doors and mosaic threshold, all of which add to the beauty of it as Galway’s finest Art Deco building.
